Marsascala (or Marsaskala) was a fishing village but is now a busy area popular with both locals and tourists. There are a number of good fish restaurants and pleasure boats and the local fishing luzzi can be seen in the bay.
The st Julians area has a vibrant nightlife with a casino, plentiful restaurants and discos. But there is still the traditional heart of the fishing village with boats bobbing in the waters of the bay.
Mellieha is considered to be one of Malta's most picturesque tourist destinations. The town centre has a number of quality hotels, fine restaurants and shops.
Manikata is an ideal location for those looking for the peace and tranquillity of a typically Maltese village, whilst being close to a beautiful sandy beach, in this case, the famous ‘Golden Bay'.
Zurrieq is a large village in the southern area. From the harbour, you can take a short boat trip to the Blue Grotto, a series of natural, sea-level caves, and a local beauty spot. Zurrieq and the surrounding area are rich in archaeological and historic sites.
